On 31st March, 1915 the 1st Coldstream Guards of 1 Brigade, 1st Division moved into trenches at Richebourg l’Avoue. The defences here were breastworks at a distance of 100 to 300 yards from the enemy whose snipers were very active and it was likely that it was a sniper’s bullet that killed Edward Draper on their first day here. |
